a previous entry i made had to do with scientists enlisting chickens to help out with fighting avian flu.

and now i’ve come across something else interesting..

cindyswanslife.blogspot
“worried about the possibility of an avian flu pandemic? sauerkraut may be a key to preventing it.

if it’ll help.. i’ll eat it.”

sauerkraut.com
“October 18, 2005—In yet another indication that Sauerkraut is the super food of the 21st century, scientists at Seoul National University have successfully used Kimchi Sauerkraut to treat chickens infected with avian flu.

..sauerkraut is also rich in cruciferous phytochemicals, which have long been proven to have disease fighting powers.

“We saw our sales climb immediately as this news hit,’ says Chris Smith, VP of marketing for Frank’s Sauerkraut, one of the United States’ leading brands of Sauerkraut.”

i wonder, is “kimchi” better than “kosher”? or is there no difference? i forget what brand i’ve bought.

and.. i can imagine so.
how coincidental this all is.. because i’ve been thinking of getting more sauerkraut and sausages for an upcoming meal.

i wonder.. has the bush administration considered this avenue to fighting avian flu?

parrot in britain quarantine dies of avian flu

http://www.foxnews.com/

“..in a breeding facility chickens and ducks effected at china’s northern region of inner mongolia..

The main cause of human infections is direct contact with poultry in slaughtering, butchering or cooking, or surfaces contaminated by their droppings, health officials say..

There is no evidence that properly cooked chicken or eggs can sicken people.”

maybe there’s no evidence because no one has been brave enough to eat “properly cooked chicken or eggs” that could have been exposed to the H5N1 avian flu virus.

and.. how bout anyone who would be brave enough to prepare the “exposed” chicken..? you’d probly have to wear full nuclear toxic body suit in order to handle it.. in order to prepare it to eat.
but.. who’d want to eat something so potentially dangerous just to touch it?

so aside from the human deaths.. this avian flu is effecting food production in china..

i suppose i’m jumpting but maybe it might need to be considered..?

what’s to become of eating establishments that have their entire business resting on bird meat.. like “kentucky fried chicken”…

have their customers declined at all yet?

another thing.. chicken soup is supposed to be the best remedy for the flu.. .. why not.. .. feed it to the birds.. .. uh.. .. would it work?

“..In an attempt to capitalize on widespread public panic about a possible avian flu pandemic, McDonald’s has introduced a new snack treat as an adjunct to their low-fat salads.
The best thing we can do with those allegedly infected birds is turn them into tasty snack treats. There’ll be no bird flu wherever our deep-fat friars are in operation. We have uses for chicken, and it isn’t spreading disease to the American people.”

a staged news event gone awry.

up the creek

out to embarrass bush over alleged video stunt, today gets caught in stunt of its own

“..paddling in the ankle deep “flood waters”. Wildly amusing in the sense that the idiot reporter got caught on live TV proving herself an idiot, but incredibly annoying in the sense that she was trying to make her viewers think things were a lot worse than they actually were.”

“Take note of her last sentence,..”it’s really tough to control a canoe or boat when you’re out in it.” Uhhhh yeah, I’ve heard those ankle-deep floods have quite a deadly current! Which is why she didn’t notice the guys splash by her boat while she was performing her little skit - it was tough controlling her little canoe!”

“..It’s not like we were trying to pass it off as something it wasn’t, spokeswoman Lauren Kapp said.

“..highly ambitious - young reporter Michelle Kosinski has been on the scene for Today in New Jersey, working the story. In an apparent effort to draw attention to herself..
this morning she appeared on a suburban street . . . paddling a canoe. There was one small problem. Just as the segment came on the air, two men waded in front of Kosinki . . . and the water barely covered their shoe tops! That’s right, Kosinski’s canoe was in no more than four to six inches of water!”

“..Michelle Kosinski yesterday accused Bush of staging his video conference with the troops in Iraq.
She, in turn, found herself, er, up a creek.”

“..I want to know who our two heroes were that exposed her.

What is especially sweet is that they lead into that “report” complaining that Bush staged an interview with troops in Iraq.”
