a previous entry i made had to do with scientists enlisting chickens to help out with fighting avian flu.
and now i’ve come across something else interesting..
cindyswanslife.blogspot
“worried about the possibility of an avian flu pandemic? sauerkraut may be a key to preventing it.if it’ll help.. i’ll eat it.”
sauerkraut.com
“October 18, 2005—In yet another indication that Sauerkraut is the super food of the 21st century, scientists at Seoul National University have successfully used Kimchi Sauerkraut to treat chickens infected with avian flu...sauerkraut is also rich in cruciferous phytochemicals, which have long been proven to have disease fighting powers.
“We saw our sales climb immediately as this news hit,’ says Chris Smith, VP of marketing for Frank’s Sauerkraut, one of the United States’ leading brands of Sauerkraut.”
i wonder, is “kimchi” better than “kosher”? or is there no difference? i forget what brand i’ve bought.
and.. i can imagine so.
how coincidental this all is.. because i’ve been thinking of getting more sauerkraut and sausages for an upcoming meal.
i wonder.. has the bush administration considered this avenue to fighting avian flu?

Kimchee or kimchi is not a brand name. It is the Korean version of sauerkraut and a staple of the Korean diet. It includes cabbage and other veggies, such as hot radishes and peppers, lots of garlic and often fermented fish. All is salted and stored in sealed containers to undergo lactic acid fermentation. Unless you are Korean - don’t serve it at your next dinner party!
