sometime back on “Everybody Loves Raymond” it was the “Blabbermouths” episode.. where Ray gets upset with Debra when he finds out she’s sharing intimate details about … (whatever) … i didn’t see the whole thing but from the jist, all the members of the family were involved in the passing of accusations and tossing blame around like a hot potato. not all that different but now they have a new member of the family to christen, Amy, who by the way, wets her pants whenever she gets a good laugh going.

so during a commercial, i commented. “They were sure tossing it back n forth, weren’t they?” i have a tendency to do that. comment on the obvious. but really it was just a conversation starter.

so i continued. “It reminded me of tennis, or badminton.” (i guess the word is spelled that way, but like everyone else i pronounce it, bad-mitten.)

then, getting away from the tv show alltogether, i launched into a commenting fest concerning the history of the game. “Why do they call it that (badmitten), when they’re batting a thing called a ‘birdie’?”
our son entered in, saying,

“Maybe the birdie’s name was ‘Mitten’.” rson was using a play on words cause at that time we were calling dibey - ” mittens” so the word-play fit.
i’ve learned that in order to set up and deliver the coop de grah i have to be faster than the hsb, i said, “Maybe when they took turns hitting it, they said,
“Bad Mitten!” *SMACK!* .       . . “Bad Mitten!” *SMACK!*. .

this i thought of later:

BadMinton1
it could also be a game where the object is to weed out the bad Minton’s from the good players. when they’re spotted, the goal is reached.
